Fall into Plaid Weaving Pattern
Note: PDF pattern is delivered electronically. Download instructions will be emailed to you at purchase.
Weaving a cowl is possible on a rigid heddle loom! Rather than sewing, knitting or crocheting two ends together once your weaving is complete, this method joins a woven piece on the loom by using the beginning of your warp to weave the end of the fabric. The result is a bandana style cowl with a fringed point.
We've made a video tutorial to go along with this pattern to help you!
Find the woven join intimidating? The pattern also includes instructions for how to do a "fake" version of this join by sewing a flat scarf and seaming it afterwards.
Yardage note: The cowl is written for an 8 dent heddle and to be woven at 8 picks per inch which is quite an open weave to facilitate aggressive fulling. It is very important for this pattern that your weaving sett be balanced (the same epi as ppi) so if you tend towards a heavier beat you may want to switch to using a 10 dent and weaving at 10 ppi. If you make this change, note that you will need an additional skein of yarn in the main color for version A and 2 skeins of each color for version B.
