Hill Country Weavers is Closing - Thanks for the Memories!

Due to incredible response to our closing sale that started Friday, August 1, we no longer have sufficient inventory to support online orders.

Suzanne, as she was building HCW over the past 45 years, strived to provide the very best in services and selections to customer online as well as in the store. She believed that HCW could be "your local yarn store" wherever you lived. She was proud and appreciative of the large following HCW enjoyed. We are grateful for your loyalty and support.

Suzanne coined this phrase and it's one she lived and encouraged others to as well -

"All you Knit is Love."

This is a three week class. The sessions meet at the same time of day for the 2 weeks following the original class date

    Level: Low Intermediate

Skills Required: Longtail Cast-on, increases and decreases, and picking up stitches. Students should already know how to knit magic loop. (This class is to learn sock specific skills, not the basics of magic loop knitting.)

    Instructor: Jill Lerman

Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit socks but felt intimidated? This 3 day course will teach you all the techniques to complete your goal. Using worsted weight yarn is the key to see your stitches clearly while learning all the steps to knit a sock. This will give you confidence and set a foundation for knitting socks with fingering weight yarn in the future.

The provided pattern outlines how to knit a traditional sock which starts from the cuff down and includes: a slip stitch heel flap, short row heel & gusset, and finishing toes with kitchener stitch.

There will be homework to complete each week after class, before the next session, in order to be prepared to learn the next step(s).

    Materials:

1 skein of worsted weight yarn (100g /~200 yds) in a light color, so you can easily see your stitches

Recommended yarn: 1 skein of Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande

Needles: Chiaogoo US 5 (3.75mm) in 32-40" length

Chiaogoo Red Lace Circulars are recommended for this magic loop technique, because of the cord's flexibility.

A free pattern will be provided on the first class day.
