Virtual Class: Slipped Stitch Colorwork with Dawn Barker
Slipped stitch Colorwork is a simple way to add fascinating texture and patterns to your knitting while only working with one strand at a time. Students will learn the basic skills needed to read and execute slipped stitch colorwork patterns and how to choose the right colors for their projects. I will give an overview of five of my slipped stitch colorwork patterns including the Hackberry Crescent.
Fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors (remenants are fine)
Size US4 or US5 needles
Cast on 20 stitches in one of the two colors and work four rows in garter stitch and four rows in stockinette stitch to make a basic foundation swatch.
Alternatively, students may choose to cast on the Hackberry Crescent through I-Cord cast on and set up rows. If so you will need the Hackerry Crescent pattern and w full skeins of fingering weight yarn in contrasting colors.
