    Are you curious about how to darn or mend your knitwear like socks and sweaters?

    Explore the world of visible mending with woven darns or work to create a less visible repair with swiss darning / duplicate stitching. To explore the techniques in the class students are encouraged to bring a smooth swatch to practice on (6” square or larger works best) in a gauge that you are comfortable working with. Choose a yarn the same gauge to create your mend with that has a strong contrast to your base so that you can see your stitches.

    Students are also welcome to bring a knitted object that is in need of repair. We can look at how to approach the mend and get started on it in class as time permits.

    Materials Required:
    6” stockinette swatch to practice on
    Small amount of yarn in contrasting color
    Katrinkles Darning Loom or other darning device of your choice (mushroom, egg, speedweve, etc)
    Tapestry Needle to fit your yarn

     

    Due to the continued lower risks of Covid-19, at this time we are not currently requiring vaccination to attend classes, however, if Austin re-enters Medium or High Risk guidelines you will be asked to either present a proof of vaccination, or provide a negative covid test to attend classes/camps. Although we are not requiring proof of vaccination at this time, you may still be asked to mask during class times if you are unvaccinated to accommodate any higher risk students or teachers.

    CLASS REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION
    1. If you would prefer to sign-up over the phone, call HCW at 707-7396 with credit card information to secure a spot.

    2. There is a $2 cancellation fee. A 5-day notice is required for cancellation without additional penalty. Cancellations made within 5 days of a class are subject to a 50% class charge.Cancellations made the day of class and no-shows are not refundable.

    3.Classes may be cancelled in the event of insufficient sign-ups (less than 3 students) - if we cancel a class you will be notified the week before by phone & will be given a full refund.
