Hill Country Weavers
Instructor: Kennedy Berry
Fee: $35 + $15 materials (all included)
Do you love the look of textured yarns that are filled with curly locks? Do you have some mohair curls or long lincoln locks in your fiber stash but aren't sure how to use them?
In this class, we will explore three techniques for adding structured fleece straight into your yarn. Learn how to blend locks into your fiber without losing their structure using hand cards or a blending board. Explore a textured semi-core spun yarn that will make the texture of your wool pop. And finally, learn how to tailspin locks and which kinds of fleece are appropriate for each technique!
Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable spinning a simple singles yarn and plying independently. Although two of these techniques are appropriate for spindle spinners, the textured core yarn is better suited to a spinning wheel and so wheel spinning experience is recommended.
All fiber will be provided with class.
If you would like to borrow a spinning wheel, please let us know prior to class.
Instructor will have hand cards and a blending board available for class use but if you have your own feel free to bring them!
If you have locks in your stash you can also bring those and we will talk about how they can be spun.
