Knit 101 - Learn to Knit 

Level: Absolute Beginner

Note: This is a two time class, we will meet a second time one week after the first class at the same time of day.

Are you interested in learning how to knit, or do you need a refresher on skills you have forgotten? This is the class for you!

We will begin with the skills of casting on and learning the knit stitch, to get started with a first project. The goal is for students to finish this project before meeting the following week when we will learn how to bind off the project, any necessary seaming, and weaving in of ends. When the first project is complete students can start a second project and choose to incorporate purl stitches or knitting in the round to add new skills, or continue to reinforce the same skills of their first project as time permits.

Supplies Needed

• Size US 7, 8 or 9 needles (depending on project)

• Tapestry Needle

• 1 skein of worsted weight yarn in a light shade for ease of reading stitches

Suggested first projects are 

The Garter Stitch Cowl : approx 215 yds of worsted weight yarn and size US 8-9 needles

Garter Stitch Mitts : approx 100 yds of worsted weight yarn and size US 7-8 needles

Garter Washcloth : 1 skein of worsted weight cotton and size US 8-9 needles

Recommended yarns: Juniper Moon Cumulus (Regular, Rainbow or Dappled), Blue Sky Organic Cotton, Berroco Vintage

Recommended needles: Either straight needles or a circular of 24-32" length in the desired size

CLASS REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION

2. There is a $2 cancellation fee. A 5-day notice is required for cancellation without additional penalty. Cancellations made within 5 days of a class are subject to a 50% class charge. Cancellations made the day of class and no-shows are not refundable.

3.Classes may be canceled in the event of insufficient sign-ups (less than 3 students) - if we cancel a class you will be notified the week before by phone & will be given a full refund.
